In an article published by Nature Nanotechnology in 2021, solid-state hydrogen gating was used “to control the ferrimagnetic order in rare earth–transition metal thin films dynamically”, and the research has applications in the field of ferrimagnetic spintronics.
The samples were grown using magnetron sputtering and Silson’s silicon nitride membranes were used for the growth.
